There is a four step process to get a marriage license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts:
Some couples choose to waive the three day waiting period between filing intentions and picking up the license. In this case, couples can go to their county courthouse and file for a waiver of this waiting period. The fee for this is approximately $65 but may vary by city. We have not heard of a case where the waiver was not granted, and once you get in front of the judge, the waiver is typically issued within a few minutes. The couples would then bring the waiver back with them to the City Clerk's office and pick up the marriage license immediately. It's About Time has helped clients with this process, literally going to the City Clerk's office and courthouse together. We are happy to assist you with this as well. |
